Your
Creative Word
By Reverend Liz Petipren
I have always looked at the month
of October as a month that represents abundant living and
prosperity. The Fall and Harvest time of the year offers not
only beautiful changes of color where Mother Nature is in her
glory, but we can also witness the assurance that God is our
source of all that is good and true. It is the time of year to
stop and enjoy the abundance in our lives. All we have to do is
call on it and it is ours.
How we feel about our prosperity
and what it really means to us can always be found in the way
we relate to it with the words we
speak.
First we need to remind ourselves
of certain universal principles.
Quoting the words of Charles
Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, “Every word we speak is a
creative word, however, it is the feeling behind the word that
does the creating.”
Our Creator knows exactly what we
want, no matter what words we use. The feelings that create an
unknown scary world are the non-feelings of the power and
presence of God in the world. We must make a friend of God.
Talk about the big and the tiniest feelings we are experiencing
with God. Make a companion of God and take God with us step by
step throughout our day. Make a Father/Mother of God. Allow our
selves to be guided and directed in all decisions. Many people
are facing challenges right now in 2009, and they tend to
become uneasy and afraid, seeing the future as a blank or as a
closed door. But we have been schooled in the knowledge that
everything begins in mind and what we constantly think about is
what we will inevitably demonstrate in our
lives.
“God
always has and always will provide my every
need.”
Say these words often and say
them as if you mean them. Think the words over again and
feel them working within
you.
The choice is ours.
We can sink into despair or reaffirm our faith in God; to
remain positive and move forward looking to the good
which may have temporarily shifted but has not left
forever. You are not alone. God is with us, you and I and
everyone now and forever. Believe this as truth, accept
it and live it. I wish you a happy prosperous
season!
The
Happenings -- October 2009

Join
Suzanne Walzer
on Sunday, October 11, 2009 for a
fun filled “Sing-a-long.” This Sunday is also our
“Pot Luck” Sunday, so be sure to show up, bring
a dish to share, enjoy wonderful food and fellowship, then
spend an hour of fun and delight as Suzanne leads us into
singing some of our favorite
songs.

Our
Book Room
is coming along with a new look
of a Wicker & Cherry Wood décor. The White Elephant table
took on a new and refreshing look thanks to the Women of
Unity’s donation of two beautiful wicker shelves. Thank you
Women of Unity!
The Interior Design Committee is
still looking for more ideas, not just for the Book Room but
also the Lobby, Sunday School Room and the Fellowship Hall. The
meeting for October, 2009 is scheduled for Tuesday the
20th, hope to see you
there.

The
Women of Unity
The
Women of Unity
meet once a month to share lunch,
fellowship and most importantly, ideas on how to be a positive
influence to Unity in the Pines and its surrounding community.
This is a group of women who come from a loving and generous
consciousness. If you are interested in getting together with
like-minded women, come to the meeting on Tuesday, October the
6th at Noon. Bring a lunch, dessert and
beverage will be supplied. This month’s guest speaker is
Dorothy Roberts, who will be speaking on a method of cleansing
called "Dowsing."
Update
on Church Renovation Committee
Coming up the church driveway
from Summit Blvd. things are looking pretty wide open and
uncluttered. That’s because some of the very old shrubs in the
front and alongside the church building have been removed. Not
only is our loving Unity in the Pines energy able to expand out
into the community, but also this roomy newness is inviting to
welcome new comers to our
church.
Our new Steeple has been ordered
and will appear on top of the loft section of the church
building in a month or two.
The landscaping projects are well
on the way of completion. The next big improvement concerns the
parking spaces. The grass where we park now will be replaced by
a hard surface, including new car bumpers.
There will be no more flooding in
the Atrium section due to a new overhead drainage system. We
can thank Alex Ballum for this ingenuous idea that was very
inexpensive and involved NO digging up our beautiful
garden.
The new shutters are up and all
is well. Next will be painting the doors and windows, and the
building outside will be complete.
Let us thank God for the patience
and understanding of everyone during this renovation period,
and also for the guidance in hiring the best people who have
done really good work.
I would like to thank the
Renovation Committee for the wonderful ideas that they brought
forth and their effort involved in following through.
God is blessing us. Thank you,
Rev. Liz Petipren

A thought from Jeff
Foxworthy, host of “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth
Grader”
“The most important lesson that I
have learned from my own kids is that they have given me a
small glimpse of how God must feel about us. You know, your
spouse is capable of doing something where you wouldn’t love
him or her anymore, but your kids aren’t. It doesn’t mean you
don’t get angry or frustrated with them, but you cannot
not love them. They’re an awesome gift. And
I kind of think that’s how God looks at us, like, “Oh, good
grief, you’re so stupid, you’re driving me crazy, but I still
love you.”
Invocation
I am now in the presence
of
Pure Being and immersed in
the
Holy Spirit of life, love and
wisdom.
I acknowledge Thy presence and
Thy power.
Oh, Blessed Spirit, in the Divine
wisdom
Now erase my moral limitations
and from
Thy pure substance of love bring
into
Manifestation my
world
According to Thy perfect
law.
