Success and Happiness
Reverend Liz Petipren
The best way to experience success and happiness
is to celebrate the smaller things in life in a big way.
There was once a survey conducted in which a number of successful people were asked,
“Which came first; success or happiness?” The results were that 65percent of the respondents reported that
happiness led to success, while 35 percent said that success had made them happy. These results have two very
practical implications:
1. Happiness is an experience you generate from the inside out. It is not
something that happens to you; it is something you choose. Happiness is not the result of external conditions; it
is the result of personal intention. Your relationships, job, living situation, car, weather, astrological
alignments, bank account, and stock-market portfolio can go up or down, but you do not have to go up and down with
them. It is quite possible to maintain joy in the face of outer change, because joy is an inside
job.
2. When you are happy, the law of Attraction will draw more success to
you than when you are unhappy. So while you may think you need to work harder to be successful, the exact opposite
may be true: you may need to drop struggle and get happier. Think about it: when you are considering buying a
product or doing a project with someone, don’t you feel more drawn to work with someone who is positive and fun?
Joy is a magnet for good things that match it. We can call on joy and happiness any time, any place by simply being
thankful.
In this November month of Gratitude and the beginning of our Holiday season, know
that the best gifts you can give another, including your self are the gifts of Hope, Peace, Love and Joy. You don’t
have to go out and buy these you already have them, give them away and enjoy your happiness and success.
WORDS FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
Patrick Callahan
The Board of Directors has decided to send out informative postcards around the 1st of November, 2011. These cards are intended to create exposure for Unity in the
Pines. The snow birds will be arriving soon and we would like to let them know about our church.
“A Taste of Unity in the Pines”
is a cook book with recipes from members and friends of our congregation. The book is available for the low price
of $15.00 per copy in the book room. This would make a wonderful Christmas gift.
Please make sure to greet any new people who attend services. Let them know they are welcome and that we are glad
they chose to spend their time with us. We are considering using name tags for everyone present.
We need containers for the annual “Cookie Bake” that will take
place on Sunday, December 12th. Please bring in your contributions
to make this event a success by that Sunday. Remember all the cookie baskets and tins will be donated to different
organizations in our community that are in need, the Children’s House is one of our biggest clients.
Please remember to donate non-perishable food items and toiletries to the food pantry. The holiday season is fast
approaching and we expect an increase in the number of people requesting food assistance.
For those of you who are not yet members, but would like to be, please sign up to attend a membership class. These
classes will be presented by Rev. Liz Petipren. The classes are also open to current members who would like to
refresh their understanding of the Unity Principles. There will be two classes available in November and two
classes available in December. Please see the enclosed flier for more information.
If you are interested in serving your church community by becoming a board member, please see Betti Rogers,
Christina Callahan or Leslie Neigebauer.

Unity
in the Pines – Fellowship Hall
Speaker, Annie Maguire will
be speaking on Gratitude and Everyday Philanthropy. Whether its compliments or gifts we are usually better at
giving. We all have work to do when it comes to being a gracious receiver. You cannot by accepting you good,
keep good from anyone else. By claiming and accepting what is yours by divine right, you are helping to
circulate substance. The universe wants you to receive and be a channel for someone else’s good. Be thankful
that on your worst day you may still be someone else’s hope.
