Quietness
By Reverend Liz Petipren
There
is a story told about a traveler on Safari in Africa who was
frustrated when his helpers suddenly stopped hurrying after
him and sat down to rest. The impatient man inquired of his
guide “Why are they stopping?” “The men say they have
hurried too fast,” the guide explained. “They believe their
bodies have run away from their souls and now they must wait
for their souls to catch up.”
This
story seems quaint and full of superstition yet it
illustrates an overwhelming need in the life of many of us.
Too often we allow ourselves to become caught up in the
media, rushing around trying to be all things to all
people-meeting deadlines.
We use
up our energy doing things that have actually little
significance. Sometimes don’t you feel like you have run off
and left your soul behind?
We must
give enough time to rest our body temple, to meditate for
our mind and to pray for our spiritual growth. When we don’t
we feel separated from God, the source of our life’s
strength and direction. With out a deep sense of direction
you and I become victims of tension, anxiety, illness and
confusion in our affairs.
Before
we are overcome with fatigue and frustration, with physical
weariness and spiritual poverty, we must take time to sit
quietly and dwell on some thought that will bring
relaxation, rest and renewal. An excellent affirmation
for this purpose is the beginning of the 23rd
Psalm: “The Lord is
my shepherd, I shall not want; he maketh me lie down in
green pastures. He leadeth me beside still waters; he
restoreth my soul.” What peace, calmness
and assurance we have as we declare, “He restoreth my
soul!” As
we let these words penetrate the inner depths of our being,
a healing, balm spreads throughout our mind and body, and we
are conscious of new strength and energy. We experience a
feeling of burdens lifted, a lightness of spirit and a more
abundant life. We know the joy of possessing our soul again,
the completeness of being one with God.
Let it
be your deepest prayer to learn how to be still, how to
discover the peace of mind your soul is longing for, how to
let God restore your soul and direct your life.
Meditation
just takes a few moments of each day. You will be amazed at
the results when you totally surrender to your higher power.
Allow your soul to catch up - peace be with
you!
It is time to make changes
:
Is God responsible for all that occurs on this Earth, and if
not all, how much of it?
The Bible states that God created the Earth and all its
creatures, and last of all humankind, to whom He gave dominion
over everything. Are you stepping up to your birthright or are
you stepping down into blame and the "isn’t it awful" game of
life which so many play. When we play the game we give up our
authority and dominion. Each day gives you the choice to be
God-like or human-like. Which do you choose this
day?
"Choose this day who ye will serve, ye cannot serve God and
Mammon both."
Affirm:
I choose this day to see myself as God sees me, His child
imbued with His authority to live a full and blessed
life.
SET ASIDE THIS VERY SPECIAL AND BLESSED TIME TO ATTEND CLASSES,
MEET NEW PEOPLE AND TRANSFORM YOUR MIND.
"Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind."

No Love like a
Mother's Love
There is no love, like a mother's love,
no stronger bond on earth...
like the precious bond that comes from God,
to a mother, when she gives birth.
A mother's love is forever strong,
never changing for all time...
and when her children need her most,
a mother's love will shine.
God bless these special mothers,
God bless them every one...
for all the tears and heartache,
and for the special work they've done.
When her days on earth are over,
a mother's love lives on...
through many generations,
with God's blessings on each one.
Be thankful for our mothers,
for they love with a higher
love...
from the power God has given,
and the strength from up above.
