FREEDOM OF CHOICE Reverend Liz Petipren We call America “The Land of the Free”, and this is true in a political sense. But there is more to freedom than the opportunity to vote. Millions of people are slaves to their environment; slaves to their troubles, slaves to what they feel are unhappy situations in their lives. How many times have you heard someone say, “I wish I could get away from it all” Such words could only come from one who feels he or she is in bondage, someone who wants to be free but feels escape is impossible. There is one last tyrant that must be overthrown before we can be free. The name of this tyrant is spiritual unawareness. Jesus put it this way, “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (John 8:32). If we are in bondage to an undesirable job, other people’s opinions, physical challenges, inharmonious human relationships, or oppressive debts, it is only because we think we are weak, powerless human beings. The real cause of our bondage, the real jailer, is our limited belief in who we are and what we can accomplish when we let the power of Spirit flow through us. In other words, our taskmaster and tyrant is our own spiritual revival. We have inadvertently come to worship many gods, and false gods. No matter what happens to us or around us, we must respond in the consciousness that there is an invisible power and presence that is working with us and for us, and that this power is capable of bringing about a right and happy solution. When unexpected trouble suddenly comes into our lives, seemingly through no fault of our own, the first feeling is many times one of panic and human fear. But then we remember Truth. We are not alone. We must acknowledge right then and there, in the midst of the challenging situation, that God is greater than the challenge and that God can and will work within us and through us to bring about a perfect solution. Then even this problem that frightens us so with its looks, with apparent facts, will somehow be successfully taken care of and work toward good in some way for everyone involved. Start your own spiritual awareness toward freedom today. Say to yourself, “No matter how hard or unyielding the circumstances of my life may seem, I resolve this day, this moment, to trust completely that a power, infinitely greater than the seeming power of these circumstances, is working to bring me to a place of greater happiness and fulfillment than I ever known or imagined. I am grateful! I am free!

JULY 2011 “LUNCH BUNCH” SUNDAY– July 24, 2011 Join us for fun and fellowship on Sunday July 24th at the “Carving Station” restaurant located at 6418 Lake Worth Road in Greenacres. That’s on the SE corner in the Marshalls shopping center. We had so much fun with the good food and good service last month at this restaurant that we will be going there again for this month. The Buffet is very reasonably priced and the food is delicious. Come and join us! We are looking for a music director. The job entails working with Rev Liz to coordinate and seek out musicians for Sunday service. This will be a paid position. We also need a volunteer coordinator to work with Rev Liz. This is a non-paid position and entails calling and scheduling volunteers for church related duties. There is a podium sign-up sheet for anyone interested in being a podium assistant. Please contact the office between the hours of 10:00am and 3:00pm. The semi-annual congregational meeting will be held after fellowship on Sunday, July 10th, 2011. The meeting is open to anyone interested in attending.

Get into the Swing of things – learn the Secrets of the Pendulum for Communication & Divination with guest presenters Eva & Raquel from Circle of Life Holistic. Join us as we get into the swing of things by learning to effectively use a Pendulum. A pendulum can help you to make decisions, verify information, and help you connect with your inner intuition. Eva and Rachel operate Circle of Life, a holistic center with a combined experience of over 30 years in healing modalities. It will be a fun informative interactive evening, especially if you are there. Bring your own pendulum if you have one. Pendulums will be available for purchase.
